IWW’NUN GREİF DİRENİŞÇİ İŞÇİLERİNE DAYANIŞMA MESAJI
Greif-Sanjut Fabribasındaki İşçilerle Dayanışma Mesajı
Dünya Sanayi İşçileri (IWW) Uluslararası Dayanışma Komisyonu (ISC) olarak Amerika menşeili Greif-Sanjut fabrikasını 10 Şubatta işgal eden işçilerle dayanışma içinde olduğumuzu ve 10 Nisan sabahının ilk ışıklarında gerçekleşen jandarma destekli polis baskınını kınadığımızı Türkiye kamuoyuna duyururuz. Yüzlerce polisin saldırısı sonucunda birçok işçi yaralanmış ve gözaltına alınmıştır. Kızıl Bayrak dergisi muhabiri Mehmet Ali Karabulut da yaralanan ve gözaltına alınanlardan biridir.
Greif çuval fabrikası, aralarında DİSK üyesi de olan 500 işçi tarafından işgal edildi. Greif işçileri çeşitli sorunla mücadele etmekler. Bu sorunlar arasında en yakıcı olanları, ücretlerin açlık sınırının altında olması, patrona çalışan 44 taşeron şirketi ve iş kazaları sayılabilir. Taşeron ve kadrolu işçiler, patron tarafının toplu sözleşme görüşmelerinde taleplerinin kabul etmemesi üzerine fabrikayı işgal etme kararı verdiler.
Greif işçileri işgal süreci boyunca doğrudan demokrasiyi inşa etti. Fabrikada 14 bölüm komitesi kurdular. Bütün kararlar bölüm komitelerde tartışılıyor ve işçiler sorunlarını, gündem maddelerini karara bağlıyorlardı. Bölüm komitelerinde alınan kararlar aynı zamanda genel mecliste de tartışılıyordu. Kadın ve erkek işçiler, çeşitli videolarda ve reportajlarda belirttikleri üzere kendilerine olan güvenlerini işgal sırasında kazandılar.
Direnişin bu olumlu niteliklerine rağmen, DİSK üyesi işgalci Greif işçilerinin DİSK’in bürokratik yapılarından hiçbir destek görememesi utanç vericidir. DİSK’in eylem anlayışı yasal çerçeveye ve patronlarla görüşme esasıyla sınırlıdır. DİSK, işçilerin militan doğrudan eylemine sırtını dönmüştür. DİSK bürokratlarının ve sözde uzmanların çok iyi bildiği üzere fabrikalarda işçi kontrolü ve işçi öz-yönetimi sendika ağalarına karşı gerçek bir tehlikedir. Bu sebeple DİSK Tekstil İşçileri Sendikası Örgütlenme ve Uluslararası İlişkiler Daire Müdürü Eren Korkmaz işgalci Greif işçilerini maceracı olmakla suçlayabilmiştir.
1905 yılında kurulduğundan beri Dünya Sanayi İşçileri Sendikası, çalışan insanlarla işverenler arasındaki mücadelenin, işçi sınıfı üretim araçlarına sahip olana, ücretli emek ortadan kalkana kadar sürmesi gerektiğini savunur.. Dünya Sanayi İşçileri Sendikası olarak direnen Greif işçilerinin mücadelesini selamlıyoruz!

Solidarity Statement with the workers at the Greif-Sanjut factory, Istanbul, Turkey
The International Solidarity Commission (ISC) of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) sends our solidarity to all workers occupying the U.S based Greif-Sanjut factory since February 10 and condemns the police and gendarme raid in the early daylight hours of April 10. Many workers have been taken into custody and injured, including a reporter of Kizil Bayrak, Mehmet Ali Karabulut.
The Greif factory, a manufacturer of packaging products, has been occupied by 500 workers who are members of Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions in Turkey (DİSK). Workers at the Greif factory are struggling for several issues. The most urgent problems are low wages, which are currently below the hunger limit, 44 subcontractor companies working for the Greif bosses, and workplace accidents. Workers, including the core workforce and subcontracted workers, decided to occupy the factory after the managers refused to negotiate concerning their problems.
The occupation process has worked through direct democracy. There were 14 workers’ committees inside the factory. Every decision has been discussed and made by the workers. The decisions made by the committees were also discussed at the general assembly. As workers, women and men, expressed themselves in various videos and interviews they gained their self-confidence after the occupation.
However, what is shameful, occupying workers at Greif, who in fact are members of DİSK, could not receive any solid support from the bureaucratic structures of the confederation. The praxis of the confederation is mainly dependent on the legal framework and negotiations with the bosses. They turned their backs on the workers’ militant direct action. The union bureaucracy, including the so called experts, is totally aware of the fact that workers’ control and self-management are a real threat to the barons of Unions. One of the experts of the union, Eren Korkmaz, Director of Organization and International Relations in Textile Workers Union, even accused workers of being adventurers.
Since the foundation of the IWW in 1905, we have striven to build unions based on the direct strength of workers on the job without regard to government or employer ‘recognition.’ It also refers to a strategy that eschews traditional contracts as our end goal. Instead we seek to win gains and build power through direct action tactics, rejecting concessionary bargaining and the prevalent ‘no-strike’ and ‘management rights’ clauses most traditional trade unions are all too willing to accept. We salute the resisting workers at Greif.
